Migration Celebration 2008 Had a Great Turnout!

Tuesday April 29, 2008, Pensacola

The annual Migration Celebration was once again hosted by the Office of Immigration and Refugee Services of Catholic Charities of NW Florida. The event was held on Saturday, April 12th, 2008 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola. Approximately 300 people from more than 20 different countries were in attendance many of whom were dressed in colorful native costumes. International foods were donated by area restaurants and all participants enjoyed the lively entertainment of music and dance from performers representing the Philippines, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Vietnam. Bishop John Ricard presided over the multicultural Mass which preceded the festivities. The event was covered by WEAR, ABC TV, the Pensacola News Journal and the Florida Catholic Newspaper, which featured the event on its cover.
