Directors Attend Mass with Pope Benedict XVI

Monday April 28, 2008, Diocesan

The annual meeting in Washington DC was held in April 2008 at the Catholic Charities USA headquarters. Over 80 Diocesan Directors from across the nation were able to share a wonderful experience.
MASS WITH POPE BENEDICT XVI
The highlight of the week, for all directors, was Mass with Pope Benedict at National Stadium on Thursday morning. Our Episcopal Liaison Bishop Driscoll from Idaho was able to get us tickets on the field 20 rows from the alter (behind all the Cardinals, Bishops and clergy). The Holy Spirit was alive as we heard the Holy Father’s message of Hope, Love and Charity and celebrated the Body and Blood of Christ with 47,000 people. You were all in my prayers to our Lord and Savior.

In addition, all Directors attended the welcoming ceremony on the White House Lawn on Wednesday with President Bush and the Pope.
VISIT WITH CONGRESS
While in Washington, a Director took the opportunity to meet with members of Congress and had the pleasure of meeting with Congressman Alan Boyd and the senior staff of Sen. Nelson, Sen. Martinez and Congressman Miller. They took the opportunity to cultivate our strong relationship with each of these men and affirm their support of Catholic Charities.
This is a wonderful story that all Directors wanted to share with our Catholic Charities community, only to prove that we are a strong organization with many Blessings.
