Encouraging Family Strengthening and Financial Growth: Educations, Preparing, EmpoweringTuesday May 22, 2007, Pensacola The Emergency Assistance Program, located at the Family Outreach Center in Pensacola, FL, provides basic needs and support for families and individuals faced with financial hardship by encouraging family strengthening and financial growth through direct financial assistance, financial literacy workshops and connection with other community resources. This Emergency Assistance program remains a major component in working towards the solution for families in crisis. The program constantly works in collaboration with other agencies, such as Escambia County United Way, Escambia Coalition for the Homeless, United Ministries, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Loaves & Fishes Shelter in an attempt to assist families. The Emergency Assistance program has many success stories every day. If hunger is alleviated; it is a success story; if utility disconnection has been prevented, then it is a success story also. One of our most recent success stories is Ms. Naumanuf, a single mother of 2 teenage children, ages 17 and 18, needing rental assistance. One of her children is disabled child and had recently undergone a heart transplant. Maintaining her child’s health has been extremely challenging for it required several trips to medical appointments in Gainsville, FL. Which caused much unplanned financial stain. The Catholic Charities’ caseworker worked diligently to get the client needed services. As a result of Catholic Charities assistance, this single mother of 2 children was able to acquire rental assistance, which prevented eviction and kept the home stable.Assisting clients like Ms. Naumanuf, demonstrates the agency’s commitment to providing an excellent level of service and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
