Strengthening FamiliesTuesday May 22, 2007, Pensacola April 2007 was a true blessing for this family temporarily residing in the last Fema Mobile Home Group site located in Pensacola, FL. Mr. and Mrs. Brackin became proud and grateful owners of their mobile home this month after more than two years and four moves. Mrs. Brackin was in an automobile accident six years ago that left her wheel chair bound and experiencing medical problems. Mr. Brackin was not able to work full time due to the caretaker needs of his wife. With all the moves and changes this family has encountered post Hurricane Ivan, many days were overwhelming. Their lives were compounded with one set back after another in many ways. However, with dedication on the part of the client, case management of Catholic Charities and BRACE, they beat all odds of failure. The Brackins described how owning this mobile home will create a positive change for their lives. They can go to bed at night and wake up the next morning knowing they have a roof over their head that belongs to them and need not worry about eviction. Catholic Charities will continue to work with the family and follow up to ensure ongoing future success. Maintaining ownership of the mobile home and pursuing goals targeting financial stability and emotional well being will ensure the Brackins continue to be a strengthened family!
