ADOPTION: COMPLETING HEARTS, FAMILY, AND HOME
We began the adoption process with Catholic Charities in March 2007, were officially “paper pregnant” in July and by the end of August completed our Home Study. We then began purchasing “bring baby home” necessities and had the nursery completed around Thanksgiving. We wanted birthparents to be able see us, our home, the nursery, our family, and we prayed for the birthparents to have a sense of connection to us through our Portfolio.
We received our “call” in February 2008 letting us know that a baby girl was born and that her birthmother “Jane” wanted to meet with us and share in our joy. We were blessed to meet Jane and to have her physically place her baby in our arms. She told us that when she read our Portfolio that she knew we were the parents she wanted for her baby.
We will always be grateful to Cheree, Cayce, Precious and Tiffany for experiencing our amazing journey along side us, for listening when we weren’t “chosen” and feeling confused and heartbroken, for informing us when our Portfolio was viewed and we were being considered by a birthparent and for sharing in the completion of our hearts, family and home with our baby, Isabella.
“Without ya’ll, I don’t know how I would have made it through the pregnancy. I really enjoyed keeping my appointments and having you all help me. I feel like you all are friends. You all made a big difference in my life as well as [my child’s]. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know that my child will have a great life and that [the adoptive couple] will be great parents. All of you are a great blessing and amazing people.”
