DESTINY

DESTINY

For many of us, destiny is an inevitable fate that is predetermined, a fate to which one is destined. But for some, destiny is about creating your ultimate goal. That’s how it is for Destiny, a woman who has spent the last 3-4 months homeless with little to no income.

Destiny came to Florida about 3 years ago and was living with a relative. But when that arrangement wasn’t working out, Destiny found herself struggling, with no where to live and no income. She first came to Catholic Charities for food and hygiene products. She met with a caseworker who provided encouragement and support, resources and goal setting.

In April, Destiny started working at Labor Finders and began working with her Catholic Charities caseworker and other referral sources to brush up on marketable skills and interviewing skills. She began exploring the idea of pursuing training to become a CNA and her caseworker provided her with support and mentoring to make her dream come true. Destiny meets regularly with her caseworker and today, she’s got more dreams – to complete a GED course to obtain her GED.

Despite hardships and difficulties, Destiny keeps a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Destiny really is about creating your own life through action, perseverance, and a little caring from others. The staff at Catholic Charities FWB salutes Destiny and her success!
