COUNSELING: SORTING OUT FEELINGS
I came for services struggling with health care problems. I was having difficulties coping with the stressors related to inadequate resources to address my health, as well as some difficulties with family stressors. I really needed a place to sort out my feelings and my frustrations with life issues.
I had been pounding the pavement seeking help for my health issues and realized how few resources were available in the region. I wanted to make myself available to my daughter, which was difficult because of strained family situations.
I came to Catholic Charities in search of a place where I could work through my thoughts and I got the hope and help to do that. With the help of my counselor, I was able to acquire not only a safe place to work through a wide range of situations, but I was also able to receive holistic care.
My counselor didn’t just focus on one problem, but on me as a person. Working with my counselor, I was able to identify strengths and resources that would help me improve my living situation. The staff worked together with me to help me gain access to medication; my counselor supported me to apply for assistance.
Today, my health is becoming stable, I can keep up with the doctor’s regime for care, and I am coping better with life stressors and family issues better than ever.
